Piccalilli is a traditional English relish made from a tangy blend of mustard, turmeric, vinegar, chopped onions, and cauliflower florets. Known for its vibrant yellow color and bold flavour, it pairs perfectly with cold meats, sandwiches, salads, and snacks.

Bartons Piccalilli has a proud heritage, first crafted in the early 1900s when my great-grandparents began preserving vegetables from Liverpool’s market using spiced vinegar blends. Back then, exotic spices like turmeric arrived via the bustling port of Liverpool, adding warmth and depth to British food—a tradition we’re proud to continue.

Originating in the mid-18th century, Piccalilli was once called “little pickle” and later “mustard pickle.” Today, it remains a beloved staple in English pantries.

Sold in ambient glass jars with a two-year shelf life, traditional Piccalilli is ready to eat. Once opened, it should be stored in a cool, dark place and consumed within six weeks. For larger needs, catering sizes are also available.
